CBS Post Spring CFB Top 25

Dennis Dodd of CBS has posted his post-spring college football rankings at this link.

He has Ohio State 9th, Nebraska 10th, Michigan State 11th and Wisconsin 12th.

After I posted my set of Big Ten Power Rankings as well as my predictions for the Legends and Leaders Divisions, more than a few people were chirping about how I was giving Nebraska and Michigan State too much credit and not enough for Iowa (I picked Iowa 3rd in the Legends behind the Huskers and Spartans).

While that may prove to be true in about seven months, it's just the way it looks now and most preseason snap shots I have seen to date are following suit. I hope I am wrong, I hope others are wrong. We'll have to see it play out on the field.

As I said in my Legends item, I think Iowa, more than any team in the Big Ten aside from Michigan, has the biggest range of win total for this year; I could see them finishing anywhere between 6-6 and 10-2. That's not a prediction cop out, because I'll go 'On the Record' as I always do....

Thanks for the post Jon, but again, (from my perspective).....Polls....yawn.

Over-valued, under-researched, over-hyped, under-real importance.
Same with the all this BCS garbage.

BCS = communism. Due to simple economics, it will be doomed to eventually fail.

Awesome. That's very relevant to this thread. Thanks for posting!

Welcome. Thanks for reading my posts Twill.

Don't know why people even bother with polls until after the 1st conference game anyway....oh wait....they support BCS rankings....got it.

Polls at this time of year do little other than spark debate and discussion and conversations about college football. I guess if you don't care for them, I don't understand clicking on the thread or taking the time to post that you don't much care for them? ;)

why would link anything from Dodd? even if he didn't say those things about the Iowa program, he is still TERRIBLE

Ditto!;) I think preseason polls are great and give us something to talk about over the slow off season period. I feel the Hawks are going to have another great year playing as the underdog. As for Dodd, meh!

Seth -

It's not communism ... it's called a monopoly. Monopolies are alive and well in America. Communism just so happened to be an example when a ruling class (the government class) has a monopoly on power.

Actually, Communism is a socio-political movement. So, in essence, Communism is a variety of economic structure.

I agree with this comment about these early polls. i also don't disagree with your statement about Iowa finishing 3rd in their division. Heck, they could finish 5th. I think iowa is really a big unknown for next year. MSu returns cousins. That alone scares me. Has he beaten Iowa yet? He is about due.
NW as always scares me. I get so tired of them coming into this game putting their whole season on this game. And their QB will be back to pick us apart. When will NW play some real football? By real, I mean some smash mouth, hit'em hard.

Anyway this is how i see it now. But as we all know Our Hawks usually come out and prove everyone wrong, when expectations are down, and they are down this next season.

Rarely have so many... had so much... to say about that which they clearly understand so little.

Back to football. Wisconsin at #12? Not a chance.

I said after last season I would never get caught up in pre-season predictions again. It's no different this year, I am not that worried about the Hawks....I am just going to enjoy it game by game....I expect 8-9 wins....but I know that Ferentz has a tendency for having magical seasons in years much like this....and whatever happens....I am just along for the ride.

Communism | Define Communism at Dictionary.com

"a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party."

Gosh, I see "economics" and "political" in the same sentence.

Doesn't seem to be that far off from the BCS cartel actually.
