I did forget that And yet I hope he never sees the field again for Iowa... He wasn't all that good either and I'm saying that as nicely as I can.
I disagree to a certain extent. He was put in an impossible situation. Walk on, 4th string kid pressed into action on very short notice in a completely new system to him. Everyone should have had very low expectations of his performance, and he slightly exceeded mine. Not for his performance, but what I saw. The kid has a big arm, good size, and a some mobility. There are enough raw tools there that I want to see what a couple years working with Lester gets him to. He has some skills that cannot be coached. We shall see. I sure hope we don't see him this year though!

Word out of spring ball was that he had improved a lot, had a good spring and could be considered a potential #2 going into the fall.
That would be a great sign because from what people have said, Hank looked solid as well. Might also explain why Sully bailed.

Be that as it may I hope Brown and Sullivan are up to the challenge of being next in line. I don't see a future for Stratton beyond holding the clipboard.

This was why I was saying it as nicely as I could... Yet for the programs sake I hope Brown develops stays healthy and takes the job next yr. If for some reason he doesn't or gets hurt and Stratton is our Qb day 1 next yr I can't see many of us being excited about that. Not even a little bit.

Stratton outplayed Brown in the spring game, FWIW. That doesn't mean he is a lock for the #2 job or anything but I do think you have written him off prematurely. As NorthKC said, he had very little practice time last year and was thrust into an almost impossible situation. I'd like to see him after he has some time to develop in Lester's system.

I think he is one of those high ceiling, low floor guys. He probably will not develop into a starter, but he has intriguing set of skills and everyone develops and grows at a different pace. We are overdue to get lucky at the QB position. Honestly, I did not think too much of Stanzi his first years on campus, and then the light turned on for him. I think it is good to have a wild card guy in the QB room.
