It appeared to me that perhaps Bryce may have tried to push himself too hard too soon during the UCA game on that sore hamstring which may have actually slowed him down again tonight as he never really showed that same burst. I believe the extra time off between now and Purdue should definitely help as he is going to be needed before the season is over.

Bryce had a good year last year and some issues (injuries/attitude/confidence) have caused an early season funk this year. Remember he was a last minute JUCO add that not many people wanted so it is unfair to expect him to be the second coming.

I predict he will regain his starting role and minutes as we get into the league games. I love Marble but all of the reasons fans nashed over the lack of a back up PG prior to this season will likely show up against the stiffer competition.

I think Fran likes this setup right now because it gets Marble and BC minutes without stealing from the 2 & 3 spot log jam.

I think Cartwright is going to come off the bench all season. Whether it is injury, lack of PT, confidence, or Marble playing really well, he seems to be out of synch with the offense. Marble keeps getting better with each game and last night showed the total package. His pull up / step back jumper is unguardable and if he gets into the lane he slithers through people and gets to the rim.

McCaffrey gets huge props from me for having the team prepared for all sorts of pressure (full, half, traps) and running in bounds plays designed to score.

I agree with the Marble assessment completely, but he can do all of that from the 2 spot. I just think we will have trouble consistently getting the ball up the court and setting up our offense against the B1G teams. BC is still the best true point guard on the team and in my opinion will be needed more soon.

I never understood why fans do not realize how injuries slow players down. Bryce pulled a hamstring. I believe he had another injury earlier. He was also sick. Give the guy a break.

Who is dogging Cartwright? I simply stated he probably won't be starting much, if at all, this season. Marble is better, no debate. Cartwright, if he can get back to form, is extremely important to the team and needs to come in at 14:00 minute mark to spell Marble so McCaffrey can start the Gatens, Ogelsby, Marble, Cartwright rotations. The problem with Cartwright is that if he isn't scoring off penetration, he has no perimeter game, so we can't afford to have him on the floor with Marble at the expense of a perimeter shooter.

BC's hamstring is slowing him at this point. Those can really be nagging injuries. Who knows how long it will take to overcome it.
We are very fortunate that we have Marble. He has made incredible strides and is playing at an exceptional level.
If BC can heal, I think the pt will even up between those two. If not, Marble will continue to carry us at PG. God help us if he were to get hurt.

It's a select few fans; the ones eager to show the world how clueless they are.

When he gets closer to 100% I would be surprised if he doesnt have his hands on the ball at the end of close games similar to last yr, I hope it is his hamstring and not something else (attitude or effort) because we can really use him

a pulled hammy hurts bryce's shot selection and decision making?

No...A pulled Hammy hurts BC's preparation (mentally and physically). Lack of practice, lack of explosiveness, lack of game shape and the confidence or lack thereof that is obtained by doing all of the above can really have an impact on a athlete.

I think that an injury can effect your shot selection and decision making. You are trying to make adjustments because of your injury and trying to compensate. I don't think it is a 100% the problem deal, but do think it has an effect on his overall game.

Once Bryce is healthy he needs to be in the starting lineup. He was one of our best players last year. This is how we should go.

PG Cartright
SG Gatens
SF Marble
PF White
PF Basabe

This is easily our best lineup.

Unfortunately those who call others clueless are usuallly the clueless ones. If a pulled hamstring affects dribbling, passing, decision making and running the offense, then I guess you are the expert. If not, then I guess I will trust McCaffrey, who has been visibly upset with Cartwright on numerous occasions for not doing what he is supposed to and cut his PT.

Everybody wants Cartwright back in the fold, but right now Marble and even Ogelsby are more effective at the point.

was bryce hurt at the beginning of last year as well?

because hes playing exactly the same way. its not because hes hurt.

Good point 9YRPLAN. The first few games last year he looked exactly like he does this year. He seemed a step slower and a lot less confident to start the season, but looked sharp in the PTL.
