Carnage Behind Us

The #6 through #10 spots in the rankings was total carnage and good news for the Hawks.

#6 Baylor (flame out, overrated to begin with)
#7 Stanford (lost, now has 2 losses)
#8 OK State (they escape McDonalds but no happy meal for you)
#9 LSU (lost, now has 2 losses)
#10 Utah (lost, now has 2 losses)

And the loser of the day, PAC 12, they will not have a 2 loss team get in the playoffs.

I have little worry (barring complete injury implosion) the Hawkeye offense will pretty much be able to score, at will, the next 2 games. However, after watching the 93rd ranked offense just abuse what I thought was a solid back 7 for the Hawks, for the first time in a month, I'm seriously concerned Shuckers might just make the Hawks join that mess behind them.

Although Purdue offense (112th rush / 67th pass) is in the same statistical and balance neighborhood as Minny's, I don't think Blough will scare the Hawks like Liedner does. Hopefully, Boilers are just the tonic to restore the Hawk D mojo and they can dominate in Lincoln. If not, Armstrong is gonna make Jewel / Fisher / Taylor / Mabin look silly.

Oklahoma may only have 1 loss, but it's a really bad one. Really, really bad. It's difficult for me to imagine a scenario where that doesn't hurt them more than the win at Baylor helps them.

I could be wrong. It's happened once before.

For OU they have been hot since the loss and if they keep winning big they can be close to the top 4 but the lack of a big win in a conf champ game will hurt them.

the only team liedner DOES scare is Iowa. He is a mistake prone terd in any other game.

Agree ... that loss to Texas has to sting. The Longhorns are not a good football team.

It doesn't matter but it's ridiculous that Okie State is #4 and we're #6 in the AP. Okie State has beaten 1 team above .500 and played zero power 5 teams in non-conference. Iowa has beaten 5 teams with winning records.

Completely agree. We get a ton of crap but no one bats an eye at Oklahoma State. Our resume is more impressive. Period.

... and with the one common opponent (ISU) ... OK State wins by 4 in Lames ... Hawks win by 14 in Lames.

Pac12 race this year is like a knife fight in the dark, eveyone is getting hurt, nobody knows how/why.

Not sure why everyone gets worked up over these. A 13-0 Iowa will get in, a 12-1 Iowa puts it into the hands of the committee and they probably do get left out. Either way Iowa's playoffs started 2 weeks ago and so far they are 2-0.

Agree, but it's always nice to see the talking heads put in their place after their favorite teams get knocked off.
