Canzeri

Saw a post on TOS early this morning. Somebody over there follows him on FB and apparently he's starting to post some negative comments about the fact that he's not getting game time. Last time we saw somebody, especially a RB, vent on FB about the lack of playing time they left after the season was up. Hope Canzeri doesn't follow that pattern.

Well, we've caught his dad's act...and once you get a bug in your ear it's hard to get it out especially if you're itching to play.

Edit: Hopefully it's just frustration because he thinks he can help and that he's 100%.

If he does not play won't he get an extra year?

I hope he does not leave, coming out of high school he was an incredible special teams player. With that speed I would love to see him get a chance to return a few kicks to see what he can do in the open field.

I would be shocked to see him back. That's why I hold the belief that if there is anyone on the team that can help us win THIS year. They need to play. You have no idea who will stick around for next year. RB has been the hardest position for this team to keep someone healthy or eligible. It is realy going to set this team back with a no bowl game practice.

Yes, he has a red-shirt year to work with and the coaches want to do that while his dad (and apparently Jordan now as well) don't want to be sitting when they think he's healthy. I don't see how sitting the rest of the season can do anything but help, but I'm not Jordan...or his dad.

I think we have our best RB in on game days. I personally feel it will be tough for him to regain his top spot.
True, but with his speed he could help all over the field...the slot, return game and another back to run a screen to...(I just had a flashback to his TD vs Oklahoma...but I refuse to flashback to the rest of that game)...

If I remember right his dad's idiotic rant was to either play him or use the redshirt. I think he was more complaining about the uncertainty. Right now it appears he will get his extra year which seems to make the most sense for everyone. But seriously, this guy when fully healthy will be 3rd or 4th on the depth chart right?

I doubt he has a ton of high level options. If he wants to go to Stony Brook have a great time

I don't know his entire rant busa, but someone posted that he tweeted something to the effect of "time to start looking around?" a week or 2 ago.

It would be frustrating to him if he has worked so hard to get rehabilitated, because he wanted to play now, and he thinks he could help the team. I admire that.

At this point with two predictably unwinnable games left it would be foolish to burn his medical redshirt. However, if he was "game ready" three games ago, he should have played if KF was really serious about winning now.

It is possible he could have made a difference then.

I'm torn on this...since we don't get to see him in practice and could you imagine the "Kirk can't do anything right" uproar if they put him in 3 weeks ago only to have AIRBHG get him again? (I know as a coach you can't think about things like that, but it crosses my mind as a fan.)

I just don't get why he would want to waste a year for 2 games. I understand that these kids are still thinking they have slim bowl hopes and want to help the team. I still think that our best RBs have been playing in the games all year. As said we don't see practice, but with Bullock, Weisman and Garmon, this could be a triple headed monster if they could all get healthy at the same time. Will be interesting to see how this whole thing pans out for Jordan.

Bingo. Misguided as his calculations often seem to be, Kirk's decisions often are always made in a 'calculated' manner, like every little move has great future implications. For instance, it seems like he won't give Rudock a series of downs at QB because it would implicate him as some sort of usurper of JVB or incumbent for next year. Back when we were 4-3, if Canzeri was medically ready to play, I think most coaches in KF's shoes would have put in a package for him on offense. I don't doubt that Bullock is the better back overall in their current respective states of health, but a healthy Canzeri as seen against UL-M and OU last year has better jets than any of our starters that I've seen (save for maybe Cotton).

That said, if he wasn't ready to play then or hasn't shown the same burst yet, then Jordan just needs to be patient and work on his cuts for the 2016 Rose Bowl (or just the Senior Bowl, for the less optimistic among us).

I think people are overthinking this. It isn't complicated. Kirk did not plan to play Jordan and burn that redshirt unless injuries forced him to.

Now, whether that plan was communicated clearly to Jordan may be a separate question.

This. My guess is it was communicated to him...the question is whether or not Canzeri feels that injuries have forced the issue, ie. he feels he is a better option than Bullock. If I were him, I'd chill...this season is is all but dead, and despite the doom and gloom, there is reason to think future seasons will at least be better than this **** show. Unless he feels this would be an opportunity to solidify some future playing time. We will be fairly deep at running back in the near future (knock on wood)...does he feel he will be hard pressed to compete?
