Canzeri continues to show that he is the feature back

But the coaches don't seem to watch the same games. Who wouldn't want to see Weisman as the lead block, and Canzeri the feature back.

When Canzeri got his carries he was operating at a different speed - again.

Iowa doesn't have a true feature back. That guy, IMO, is a guy who can consistently take the ball 20+ times and still be effective. Weisman isn't that guy, Bullock isn't that guy, and I don't think Canzeri is that guy. He should have a bigger role, though.

So long as Weisman is on the team, we will feature him. He works hard and is a leader. Problem is that he isn't a game changer. We saw today what happens against better defenses.

Averaged 5 yds carry. He just brings something different. He does have a problem holding onto the football and that freaks KF out

JC should've carried the ball more today. Period. I'm hoping Daniels Jr. will make an impact next year

Canzeri certainly brings another element to the RB position--speed and some wiggle along with some burst. He just needs to eliminate the fumbles that plagued him earlier in the year.

A terrific find during the recruiting process. Couldn't believe it was down to Iowa and Villinova for him out of high school.

Yeah I think Daniels is our future but Kirk will continue to play the guy that "works hard and doesn't fumble". So we're stuck with a guy that is a fullback playing at tailback. I'm not sure how many times we have ran h out wide expecting him to turn the corner and take it to the house. It hasn't happened once so why do we keep trying it? It blows my mode the stuff we pull over and over again. It's the definition of insane yet we keep trying the same stretch plays with mark. He try's hard but let's let Daniels and Canzeri do what they do and watch us grow...

Weve seen for two years what happens when he runs stretch plays against good defenses, not much.

He would have played more today had he not fumbled the ball on like his third carry of the game, and it was a fumble another bad call by the refs.

As others have mentioned we don't have a feature back playing, I love Mark but he is a FB, Bullock is at best maybe a 3rd down back, Canzeri is a change of pace guy. Daniels is probably the closest thing we have to a feature back, I'm guessing he didn't know the blitz pick ups well enough to see the field more.

our O needs to find playmakers and we don't seem to have many if any at the skill position on O and the one guy we do have only seems to know how to run a Go route and a bubble screen.

This team has playmakers, Canzeri, powel, smith, cotton, all the tightends, Weisman as a fullback, and Bullock as a 3rd down back/slot guy.

What they dont have is an offense that works or makes a whole lot of sense with the personel.

They have a really good running Qb on the sidelines who also has a huge arm but kf wants to wants to run zone plays with a full back instead.

Playmakers are guys that give our team an advantage over our opponent in match ups. None of those guys you mentioned are any where close to playmakers, Canzeri is probably the closest. Powell can run fast but clearly doesn't know the O.

Glad to know the definition in your opinion.

That was probably the wrong word to use but those are guys capable of scoring points for this team if used properly.

And the one guy we do have who could be capable of being a playmaker is Bethard.

Coaching staff clearly needs to figure out how to identify the running back who is most effective gameday IN GAME early and adjust the distribution of carries. I have no problem w/ practice, past performance or any other factor the coaches deem appropriate for determining the starter, but if the running game is ineffective then they need to switch up backs early. Just rotate the backs until they find one who is effective and adjust the rotation based on those results. Kind of a Zen approach, per game, if you will.

LSU got MW's number quickly and DB was DOA. Canzeri should have had a carry or two during the Hawk's second possession. It seems the assumption was made that Iowa wasn't going to be able to run before all of the backs had a chance to show what they could do. Canzeri doesn't get on the field until the 2nd Qtr, gets two carries for positive yardage and then doesn't see the field again until the 3rd Qtr when he gets one more carry for positive yardage. I don't even remember if Daniels even saw the field.

I still am scratching my head as to why anyone thinks MW or DB can run to the outside against teams w/ good defensive speed. Interestingly, IIRC, most of JC's runs were between the tackles. I keep thinking that we should have swapped JC's and MW's touches.

I wrote something on here to the effect that GD would need to call the game of the year on O to win today. Obviously he didn't.

Totally correct. MW should have been running straight blast plays between the tackles. Canzeri needs more carries and I think since Purdue game he should be starting.

I think Weisman should think of playing a lot of fullback and being the short yardage tailback along with Daniels.

Weisman needs to re-show his blocking and catching ability at fullback because he might get an NFL chance for the right team and coach if that is what he wants

Canzeri doesn't get enough touches
smith hasn't caught a pass since mich game
Powell is a one trick pony
Cotton plays special teams and were talking offensive playmakers

TE group is talented.
