why Iowa does not run toss sweeps? I would think that with Brandon's speed and our edge blocking that we would want to get to the edge quicker and I think a toss sweep would get Brandona and Adam in open space. Don't get me wrong I liked how Iowa spread the ball around, but all season we have not been able to run up the middle and the edge is where had success all year. I just thought Iowa should have racked up more yards against that suspect run defense.

Your thoughts?

About the only time I can remember us running a toss sweep was against Wisconsin in 2008. Iowa uses the outside stretch play as kind of the equivalent of the toss. And when you run the toss, you immediately eliminate the possiblity of a pass, as the defense has to have pass in the back of their mind until Stanzi completes the exchange with the RB.

And I'm not sure that our backs are ideally suited for toss plays. They are quick, but not all that fast.

Excellant question!! As GT ran that toss sweep to the rigth side my group got into that exact debate. First off, B-Weg finally looked healthy again. That dude found the speed that he showed early in the season and made the "fast GT D" look slow. Welcome back B-weg!

As he matures and gains some better vision of the field, this kid will hit seems. Sweeps could become a D Killer with this kid's accelaration!
