Camp with Iowa, Bama, UG and GT?

The recruiting part of the college football landscape in my opinion is the biggest change to the sport in recent times. Just look at the impact of social media, marketing depts / personnel, etc. Satellite football camps are just another step in the evolution of recruiting. Good that Iowa is getting out of the starting blocks but all is relative..........Michigan has over 20 satellite camps scheduled just for the month of June.

You better have a young man's heart and/or energy if you are a Power 5 coach looking to contend each year as you're not likely to see increased time at home with the family in the future. Getting a little out of hand IMO. Hopefully this upcoming NCAA focus on recruiting results in some common sense approaches vs. wild west range wars where future college athletes are treated more like Hollywood stars vs. college students. I think Ferentz has always tried to preserve the meaning & value of college in his approach but he's fighting an uphill battle thanks to some of the wild west cowboys out there.

I think Iowa has to do things like this to stay competitive. I mean even Iowa State is doing it. Next expect KF to send V-Day cards to recruits.....you know because that's not creepy at all ;)

I find it odd that Iowa is lumped in with the state's of Georgia and Alabama.

Maybe Kirk and Nick are good buds? Maybe they are all just a good fit to do this because of the matching styles, would be interested in the same recruits?

What are schools like Nebraska and Wisconsin doing?

At the Cap One luncheon years ago, it was pretty apparent KF and Saban are more than just "acquaintances" and had mutual respect. Not sure I would go so far as "friends" (of course, I could be totally wrong).

For one, KF is "naturally" funny and insightful. Saban tries too hard to be one or both of those.

Those of us who are innately insightful and funny find it difficult to abide those who have to work at it :)

FWIW, Saban and KF were on Belichik's staff in Cleveland.

I have a theory on what could be happening. When Wayne Woodrow Hayes was at tOSU he would recruit players he could not absorb at tOSU to go to Notre Dame rather than any other Big Ten team, notably Michigan. Actually pretty smart to make it easier to win the conference since tOSU didn't play ND. If you are Sabin what would be the smartest thing you could do recruiting wise? Well if you get your pick of the 50 best players wouldn't it be wise to direct the 25 you can't take to teams you don't play? If he makes Iowa more competitive in order to knockoff a Michigan or an Ohio State then it makes it harder for either to make the playoffs.

If Saban and Ferentz want to team up to make Iowa a powerhouse I'm all for it.

This is obviously Alabama's show with some strong outside schools. You notice there are no other SEC west teams, a single SEC east team, a single ACC team, a Big Ten west team, and a single Mountain West team.

Alabama is getting the pick of the litter, so to speak, and any other top D-1 players that get lured out of the area is a loss to the SEC west teams. Given that Iowa doesn't get much recruiting penetration into the area, they are realistically competing with the second tier FBS teams for some of the better developmental players. It would be nice to get a foot in the door. Maybe they will get lucky. A little media exposure doesn't hurt either.

I'm fine with it being Alabama's show. We don't compete for the same recruits (usually), and I'll gladly take a few leftover 4* or 3* recruits that don't quite make the cut at Alabama. If they're even looking at a recruit, then it means they've got talent, and we need talent.

This was my thoughts exactly.
