Calipari reveals why his team started to go on a roll

I dislike Calipari more than any other coach due to the fact that I have to believe he is doing something behind the scenes in order to get the players that he gets. But having said that, this was an ingenious move.

Also surprised to hear that Cauley-Stein is coming back for his junior year. Wanting to try and win a NC and getting one year closer to his degree. At least he has his priorities straight.

*Also, I couldn't find where to put this thread, so I figured since it is Kentucky basketball, it probably would fit in the professional sports category.*

I think your 1st paragraph sums up my thoughts exactly. As much as I can't stand the guy, cheating or not, he has been successful at every stop.

I actually don't think he cheats anymore. Now that he's established his reputation as the go-to spot for the one-n-done, I think recruiting is actually pretty easy for him. Now, I doubt he is terribly vigilant in protecting his players from contact with runners or agents, but I don't think he directly/indirectly facilitates such contact. In his UMASS and Memphis days I think it might have been a bit sleazier.

I think he is very smart about how he orchestrates these great classes nowadays. I believe that money changes hands, from booster ''bag-men'' who keep him out of it. Or, at the least, he has connections to pro agents and go-betweens like World Wide Wes, who is working with agents. Cal is always one step ahead. In his book he advocates for loans to players families from the NBA, if they are good enough. That might relieve him of arranging them.
