C.J. Fiedorowicz next season

He'll play some due to skills... but speed of the game and making reads will hamper his playing time as it does for about all freshmen...

I would hope that we can actually get some big leads early in the season and let him get some playing time in the non conference games so he'll be ready to step into a larger and larger role as the season goes on.

I have no idea but I finally saw some highlights of this kid. What a freak! He looked like a 30 year old man standing next to a bunch of 12 year olds on a football field. Doyle will always find something to improve but CJ looks like he's coming in miles ahead of most freshman.

CJ will make an impact. If this kid can learn to block at the TE position there is going to be no way KF can keep him from starting or seeing a lot of playing time. CJ is a beast of a kid with good hands, good speed who has a pretty good football IQ. I don't see him starting unless we run a lot of the doube TE sets which I love to see. There is just a bunch of talent on the offense, WOW!

If you are a TE in this system you have to be able to block. A lot of times you are almost an H-back. He won't start this year unless Reisner gets hurt. His playing time this year will solely be based on picking up the system and his ability to block.

I agree a lot depends on what happens over the summer and in Fall camp, I think he plays a little but if he doesn't pick up the blocking scheme I don't think he sees the field that much.

I think he can pick up the blocking okay. And actually, if he really does run a 4.5, we could give him a little time as a Dallas Clark-type WR. That size would be hard to beat on goalline fade routes.

If you are a D-cord he present such a challenge to cover. Too fast for the linebacker, too physical for most SS or FS. So I'd guess he'll see some cover 2 or hybrid man/zone schemes. If he can learn to find the holes in the zone a la Dallas Clark, he's going to be a real weapon to reckon with for the entire league.

If Fiedorowicz ends up faring as expected (development-wise) ... I anticipate that he'll leap Herman and nab the #2 TE spot. In so doing, he'll end up seeing A LOT of game action as a TR FR!

I realize KF and the coaching staff have changed their philosophy about playing freshman, but unless dude is the second coming of Antonio Gates, brutha he ain't playing unless he knows the system and at minimum be adequate at blocking.

I definitely think that he'll see the field...maybe they'll work him in on certain formations or goal-line?

trj -

Moeaki saw action as a TR FR and jumped a very solid TE in Majerus back in 2005.

From what I've heard about guys like Herman, Griggs, and Getz ... it would be cool if the competition with Fiedorowicz ends up being extremely heated. It would be awesome to have that sort of depth at TE.

Agreed and having McNutt's and Davis' size along with his is a really bad match up problem for D's in the red zone.

How much do you think he plays? Do you think he'll start?
He won't start because of his supposed blocking deficiencies. But I think we'll see him a lot, especially in the red zone. He'll get some jump balls. And I think he'll be split wide at least as often as he is set up tight. If you split him out, the defense either has to take an LB out of the box (and he probably can't cover CJF anyway) or they have to have a DB try to cover a guy who is 6'7" 240lbs and can run.
