Brad Stevens has been there the whole time, back through the Lickliter years. Although quiet and calm on the bench, his team buys into his "system" because he has their trust and a relationship with his players. You can tell when a coach is that excited and does a jumping spin bump with one of his players, he's elated and genuinely proud of his crew. Just can't see Lickliter having been in that manner. Stevens must have been his best link to the players when at Butler.
They are now growing a tradition and they can recruit stronger more talented players which help the system work better.
Just my thoughts. But I see it pretty clearly now. Sorry if somebody posted something similar in another thread.
