Butler/Florida heading to OT

It's a great game. What a terrific move by Donavon to go 2-3 with less than 10 on the shot clock. It completely voided whatever Butler set up with the time out.

Shot clock off for Florida and you take a 30 shot with almost 14 seconds left on the clock? Donavon totally blew that. OMG you are down by one, the bigs had their way with Butler and you do something crazy like that. Butler deserves the win.

what a game. how many of those players are lick's?

None of the players are Licks! By all account Brad Stevens was the one recruiting and the one the players committed too and the master mind behind things it looks like now.

Kind of like how all the Iowa guys that came to school under the Lick regime were there because of coach Laval Jordan and in Fuller's case because of Cornette. Lick did not have any real connection to the recruits/players.

Terrible coaching by Billy Donovan today. It amazes me how many high profile coaches are absolutely terrible in game coaches. Florida should have won this game comfortably.

That's not entirely fair.... although you are correct on how some of the one on one relationships are handled, Lickliter deserves credit for a number of important Butler players. Norad, Howard, and Van Zant all came in under Lickliter and were utilized right away. Howard was Horizon League Freshman of the year, in fact, under Lickliter. I think Brad Stevens would be the first to give Lickliter credit on those three players in the current senior class. Stevens is doing a fantastic recruiting job, though. Next year's class looks very.... Butleresque. BTW, the city is going mad. I live two miles from Butler's campus, and the news is Butler will be entering Hinkle Fieldhouse at 1 AM EST... all the local stations are carrying it live. Reminds me of when my father took me to The Iowa Fieldhouse in 1980 to see the Hawks come home after winning their region final. Fun stuff.

I hope I get to see something like this with the Hawks someday. I can't imagine how amazing it would feel to have the Hawks going to the Final Four.

Howard signed with Butler and didn't follow Lick. He committed to the school not Lick.

To be fair, didn't Lick tell his players not to transfer with him? Maybe I'm wrong, but I seem to remember him doing that.

If he did it turned out to be the first of his many mistakes.

Agreed. Nice guys finish last, and being nice to his former school certainly hurt his cause here. Just imagine if we'd had Mack, Hayward, Howard, etc. type players here.
