Bulaga to guard?

If Bulaga doesn't beat out Clifton sounds like hes moving to G. According to ESPN.

If the Green Bay Packers are going to succeed in 2010, they'll need to have better pass protection for Aaron Rodgers -- a better pass rush on defense wouldn't hurt, either -- so the fanbase was excited by the drafting of OL Bryan Bulaga in the first round. But veteran Chad Clifton, the 2009 starter, is still around too.

During a chat session this week, Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press-Gazette gave his opinion on how the team might line the big boys up this season, in response to a suggestion that Clifton be moved to left guard: "Clifton is a left tackle, period. If the Packers want to get Bulaga on the field, and he doesn't beat out Clifton at LT, then it will be Bulaga who gets moved to guard." This will be an interesting training camp battle to watch.

not really knowing anything about playing offensive line, but constantly hearing about Bulaga's shorter arms during draft season, is this a good move for him to go inside? I think he did great for Iowa at tackle, but in the NFL is he better suited to play inside with his huge size (but shorter arms)?

The Packers drafted him because they are set at tackle right now but he can start at guard tomorrow. He'll get on the field and gain NFL experience in the middle. Depending on how he plays the Pack could cut Clifton and shift Bulaga to LT as soon as the 2011 season. There is also a small chance Bulaga plays RT.

I think this may be similar to the Gallery situation. He would have been much better off if he had started at G in the beginning as he has proven to be a pro-bowl caliber player at that position. Not saying I don't think that Bulaga can work into a T role, just would be nice to see it go the opposite way of Gallery so he doesn't get ragged on as much as Gallery did.
