I was looking for Hawk classic games on BTN website and came across this game. The game hasnt changed that much.

I watched just the first half because I had seen notre dame play at iowa in 67 or 68 and just to see this classic matchup. Terry Hanratty at Kinnick was awesome.

It is a good watch for several reasons.

Purdue had Leroy Keyes who was a great all around player. Mike Phipps was a very good QB who took over for Bob Griese.

Notre Dame's Terry Hanratty at QB throwing to Bob Seymour was an awesome pair.

Hanratty and PHipps were great QBs who could be top flight qbs today.

Purdue played a lot of 3 receiver sets and threw 3 halfback passes in the first half.

You have to see the TD run by Keyes with about 2 minutes left in the first half, just a classic sweep play.

And need to see the halfback pass by Keyes running to this left lofting a high soft pass in the second qtr.

Special teams were atrocious, laughable almost with two botched extra points and bad punt snaps, etc. Both straight on kickers.

Classic saturday afternoon game call by legendary Chris Schenkel and the coach Bud Wilkinson.
