What makes people think he would ever come to Iowa? I keep seeing his name get thrown out as possible next coach...get over it, not happening.

Don't you remember the last time we had a coach opening...we went after him and he said he wasn't interested. The only thing that's changed is the program is now in worse shape. For those that keep throwing his name out, what makes you think he would come now?

Would just like to see suggestions that actually have a chance.

1) 0000000000's on a check from a program that is now completely desparate...money makes anything possible
2) has ties to UI
3) UT is not that awesome and there have been some shady moments down there
4) Midwest ties
5) Big Ten Basketball vs. SEC bball
6) Pat Summit and UT women's Bball

I love posts like this. So I guess we shouldn't set our sights any higher than Dana Altman or Kirk Speraw. Geez. Doesn't mean it will happen, but as the previous poster said, there are reasons why Pearl MIGHT consider coming here.

And I remember Jon's post a few weeks back talking about Barta's first call to Pearl, and how it could very well have been more of a token call to appease the fans than Barta making a legitemate rush to acquire Pearl as our next coach.

Don't forget to mention that the last time we had an opening, Pearl had Chris Lofton, JaJuan Smith, and Tyler Smith coming by way of transfer. He knew that team could be great, so why would he have left? He's not in a bad spot now, but he recognized what kind of team he could have in 2007.

Totally agree, it will just never happen, and since fans on a message board will clearly decide the next coach (who we don't even know if officially leaving yet) I'd just like to no longer see the "hire bruce pearl" threads and responses.

If Pearl lands Selby in this recruiting class he may have the top class in the country coming in. A team that has a lot more talent than that team you mention. Pearl isn't going to go to Iowa

Calhoun has been at Connecticut longer then the Womens coach, smart one.

And can you prove that UT can match those 00's? Or are you just assuming that based on nothing?

Bruce isn't hated in Tennessee by any means, but he has had some minor slip ups.

I don't think BP will end up at Iowa, but you have no idea what your talking about, in regards to whether or not UT can match an Iowa contract or not.

I mean, that's what the Cyclones did when Johnny Orr waS at Michigan. In fact, they asked more than onCe until Johnny said yes.
 
Maybe...just maybe...Pearl didn't come to Iowa back then because he didn't want to "Lane Kiffin" Tennessee after one season or work for the school that shafted his mentor (a fence which has subsequently been mended)...I dunno...just a thought...
