Kansas,Ksu,Isu,missouri, and Baylor should keep the Big 8 or 9 alive by raiding the mw, big east, and usa, by adding tcu, houston, memphis, and louisville

When the big ten or acc destroys the big east add the leftovers: Pitt, West Virgina, Sflorida,?

Why wait??

The Big 8 became the Big 12 because those 8 schools couldn't continue as a power conference on their own. Today they'd be even less able, especially if that league is further diluted with teams like the ones you mentioned above. That scenario will not happen.

What options are better? how does joining the mountain west or big east benefit them more than forming their own league? It sounds like the mountain west doesnt even want isu and baylor, the travel expenses in the mountain west or big east would kill their budgets.

It will never happen, but I think it could work. Colleges like ISU are never going to be able to keep up financially with the likes of Texas etc., so why try. I think a team could have plenty of success without paying 3+ million for a coach and throwing all kinds of money around to compete in the arms race.

An 8 team conference when everyone else has at least 14?

Good luck

Joining the MWC would be a better scenario than this

ISU doesn't have a lot of options right now, but competing in a watered-down version of the former Big 8 is, IMHO, even a less attractive option than the MWC. As I said before, that league simply wouldn't get even a sniff of a decent TV deal...and that's why it became the Big 12.

ISU's best hope is that the 10 remaining Big 12 teams stick together and bring on 2 new schools, but I don't see it happening. Outside of that, I think their best bet is a revamped Big East Conference that includes a Western Division of teams such as ISU, Kansas, K-State, Missouri, Louisville, Cincinnati, etc.

ISU and the kansas schools should be on the horn to Texas...basically telling Texas they can do whatever they want if they keep the Big 12 together...form their own network, take all the tv revenue, all the bowl revenue, and give them more money from their own coffers to Texas. It is ISU's only hope. Give Texas everything, all the money...everything.

Texas already has everything, and even that wasn't enough.

The old Big 8 without any of the power teams ... Think back in history folks. In the old Big 8 it was Nebby, Okie and everyone else lapping at their heels. K-State had a nice flash, as did KU, in the B12 north when Nebby stumbled. However, neither has a strong history. These are teams that Sporting News once wrote the following about the sunflower showdown. "Neither team has the talent to win."

Bringing back the Big 8 is not a great idea, and I live in the heart of the Big 8/Big 12 country. It would be best if ISU, KU, KST and Mizzou would get proactive - either find a couple of teams to join them in a revamped north to keep the B12 together or find another suitable place to land.

It hurst to feel like the red-headed step child, but these schools allowed themselves to be treated like that by Texas for years. That's why Nebby (and Okie fans as well) were and are not satisfied with the B12. Not all of the unrest in the conference was with teams in the North.
