This kid is a horse. I have watched this kid sense his soph. year in high school. I think that we should try more toss sweep plays to allow him to get to the outside sooner. I think part of the problem with Wegher is that he is worried about getting the ball instead of reading the defense which make it harder for him to see all the possible holes. If we ran a few toss plays it would allow him to have the ball in his hands sooner rather than later, which i believe will allow him to have more big plays and in return would give the team an extra spark.

HAWKS 13-0 BABY!!!! :)

this is D-1 major college football. not 3-A high school ball. linebackers run 4.5's and d-ends run 4.7's he wont have the same success with those plays as he did in high school. not a terrible thought. but probably not going to happen much at all.

Young Mr. Wegher is doing exactly what he needs to do to be successful. Hold on to the ball. For KF you don't put the ball on the ground especially as a frosh. or you may never see the field again. Having seen him several times in HS he is much more controlled at Iowa and that probably won't change for quite a while.

Alright. Thanks for the input. This was my first post and after watching him for so long i thought i would just say something, and i never thought about how much faster the d line is in college. Should have know(Clayborn, binns, Klug, Ballard.) Stupid me!

His time will come with experience. He has to change his style a little to take advantage of the holes he gets. In HS he really seldom had to look for the cutback lane he hit the area where the play was called and his line was dominant enough he seldom had to be real patient. Zone blocking doesn't have an exact hole you have to find it and he learn to see it coming in advance or hit the cutback slot if its bottled up.

Overall Wegher has met expectations I think, but I would agree with the comment about getting him the ball on a sweep or a straight toss. Nothing in the KOK offense annoys me more than the contant running plays to the short side of the field, particularly when we have backs with some speed that could get to the corner.

I was just wondering if we would ever try a Wegher reverse. Line him up as a slot receiver and run the same play that we always ran with Chaney. It could be another way to keep defenses honest and may allow for better passing lanes with Stanzi. Also it would allow us to fake it and freeze the defense for just a second that might allow our line for better blocking angels.

Any Thoughts?

With our zone blocking, they should run opposite of the zone blocking more. It was effective on one play last week with Robinson.
