Would take this in a heartbeat. This is about as good as a spot Iowa could end up with IMO.

9 seed against 8 seed Georgia first game.
Match-up with the Zags second round.
Sweet sixteen match-up against Wichita State or Notre Dame.
Not to bad of a path through the first few rounds of the tourney, as I think Iowa matches up well with all of these teams. Notre Dame appears to be the toughest.

Agreed. Getting through Georgia would be as good of a game as Gonzaga. This bracketology is more or less worthless, it changes every 2-3 days. Would be a better reference if they at least locked everything into a specific division (midwest, south east or west). Who knows, tomorrow we could be back in the bracket Duke is in.

Why does everyone act like the Zags are such a great match up for us? Is it because of the mid-major thing because we've gotten beat pretty handily by good mid-majors in recent years, including this one

We are in a position where we will almost for sure be playing a 1 or 2 seed if we win our first game. Of those 8 teams, Gonzaga will probably be the easiest to beat. It doesn't mean we are better than them or we are guaranteeing a win.

But why? Again, is it the mid-major thing because we played a mid major this year that kicked our ***.

I'm not against playing Kansas or Duke. They've both looked relatively beatable at times against lesser teams (they've looked good at times too obviously, especially Duke but that's why their high seeds)

I'm not against playing the 'Zags but I feel like people are just saying that because they are a mid-major (sort of)

Gonzaga has had a couple of scares against teams in their conference....Their conference is weak. Gonzaga is by far the easiest 1 seed to face and it isn't even close.

What's Iowas best case scenario? If we run the BTT or at least get to the final.....will that improve our seed somehow? My guess is yes, but where? 5, 6, 7, 8...just curious

like someone else said, they stuggle to beat bad teams sometimes. I know one thing for sure, i would MUCH rather play UNI over any top 2 seed. Even though they did beat us already.

No, Gonzaga would not be an "easy" game by any stretch, but I'd rather take my chances against them compared to a Duke or UK.

#1 seeds from the mid-major ranks haven't had the greatest track record in the world.. Including Gonzaga, who themselves were a #1 seed in 2013 and lost in the second round to WSU. If memory serves, they had a tough game against the 16 seed in the first round, too.

St. Joe's in 2004 - Elite 8, which isn't bad, but still fell short of the Final Four.
Wichita St last year - 2nd round loss.

It would definitely help.. It also depends on these last 3 games, but I could see us going up maybe 2 slots with a deep BTT run, just a guess? So maybe 6-7? The selection committee seems to fall in love with teams that win their conference tournaments.

Heck, I've seen alleged bubble teams go up to 5 seeds by winning the Big East Tournament - Uconn & Syracuse come to mind.

I would think we have to win out regular season AND BTT to get anything higher than 7. Winning BTT in 2001 got us to 6 or 7, winning it in 2006 got us to a 3.

Nobody thinks they're a great matchup, but if Iowa faces a 1 seed who would you rather play between them, Kentuky, Duke or Virginia? I think Gonzaga is the obvious choice. Hell they played Pepperdine twice, won by 2 points and another time by 12. Iowa beat Pepperdine by 11. VERY small sample size obviously but Gonzaga plays in a really bad conference.

Iowa can still get up to a 6 seed if they win out and win a couple in the BTT. I'm still hoping they can earn a rematch with Villanova. I'm still seeking revenge for that championship game in the Battle 4 Atlantis last year

If you had your choice of playing Wisconsin, Kentucky, Virginia or Gonzaga, who would you choose?

Yes, I know you have to win them all to keep playing but who among those four would you rate as the easiest team to beat?

It's hard to say. Every one of those teams has an example of a game they struggled. There really isn't enough difference to where I'd say "yeah, I'd rather play this team"
