We went from people calling for a search committee to search for Barta's replacement, to people actually looking into this hire and realizing, there might just be something there... there's at least enough there to earn the guy the benefit of the doubt.

I'm a big fan of this hire!! Just read about him and his success at Siena. I think he's going to bring an up-tempo style to CHA and we'll have success sooner than later.

Once you're resigned to your fate, you stop micro-analyzing the negatives and try to be open to the positives. I felt a little better after listening to him answer direct questions with confidence and intelligence on the BTN video.

I will admit it was hard to swallow when I heard the news today. The more I see of the guy the more I'm ok with the hire and just hope he puts together a good staff. I seriously hope Barta has spoke with him about how important the right staff is and that just bringing along his staff from the previous school just might not cut it. I'm sure after his presser on Monday more people will come to grips with the hire.

In all fairness I did not call for a search committee to search for Barta's replacement I just wondered aloud if they would use the same search committee that they used to find Lickliter's replacement .
FWIW I hope not.

Too much is made out of a smaller school hanging with a big time program for 1 game. It really is meaningless. Because it happens all the time. Shoot, Iowa hung with OSU this year for most of one game. Hardly a harbinger of success.

As far as who his assistants will be? You're way ahead of me on that one - I'm still trying to figure out who McCaffery is. I think many people are, and will be for awhile.

Hope he works out, but it smacks as a fall back hire, to me.

I have convinced myself that I am OK with this hire throughout the day. (but then again I did the same thing 3 years ago) I am looking forward to seeing the new brand on the court, but as they say, the proof is in the pudding.

I never got excited about Lickliter. The style killed me, from Day 1. I still supported him though, and said he could win me (and many others) over with wins. Those wins never came. At the end of the day we will all take wins over "style" any day. At least I will. I think Fran McCaffery gives us a shot at both though! GO HAWKS!
