Thought of this just for fun. Some of us (OK, me) were anticipating a potential matchup with the Tide.

Great game. Not convinced until the QB went out who was going to win. Nate, great game. We also saw the frustrating Nate. The running game was overall weak. I do think KF is going to keep this up to end his career well...misdirections and so on. Alabama would not have given our receivers as much cushion. That QB was like an experience, Aaron Rodgers.

Been saying this for some time. The demise of football is more apparent on the west coast.

That said, boy was that satisfying except the dreadful length of the half time and incomplete passes.

I am hopeful for KF changes.

I believe Alabama would be uninterested in the game. Iowa played inspired football. I think we could have caught them.

I would like to think when our offense scores 35 points and get 2 touchdowns off special teams and defense that Iowa can beat anybody. But we are talking Ala-freakin-bama here so I just don't know. Hard to compare the 2.

But I would have LOVED to have seen Iowa match up against Alabama and I'm saying that even after knowing Iowa won the Holiday Bowl. If there was ever a year Iowa had a shot at beating Alabama I think this is one of them.

Iowa was having trouble covering USC's WRs. Alabama's WR's would have created even more problems.

I would tend to say no, but I would have loved to have seen it. I wanted Alabama. If Alabama had mailed it in, maybe. I would think Alabama's defense would be better than USC's defense. I would think Bama would have had a stronger ground game for us to deal with in addition to their receivers.

But, by beating USC, we got some revenge from the Orange Bowl and we beat a team out West convincingly (finally, other than the Washington Win in the Sun Bowl).

Yeah, you are probably right. I think Alabama has 2 WRs projected to be 1st round picks and Jeudy might be a top 10 pick. But 2 of those USC receivers will probably be playing on Sunday as well.

Both teams have A level WRs. I think Alabama's are better though.

Let's be honest. Last night showed we can play with speed. With athletes. Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin can all hang with these schools. We can hang with Alabama. With our best squads we beat LSU, a good Missouri team, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Florida, etc. I think we lose 7-8 times out of 10, but i think 9 of the 10 games are 14 point games or less. We would battle and make it a game.
