One of the tired expressions of bowl season (right up there with "there are too many bowls", and "no 6-6 team should even be in a bowl) is the old, "bowl games come down to which team wants to be there."
In the case of last night's game, it was clear to me that both teams gave full effort. I believe this was Iowa's best performance since the Michigan State game and its second best effort of the season, (second only to Michigan State).
It is victories like last night, in a bowl game that really only has importance to the winner, that I am glad we still have no playoff in college football.
