Boston College DC Jim Ried

The only thing interesting to me about Boston College is that Jim Ried is now their defensive coordinator and LB coach.

Jim Ried has had a long coaching career, including being Iowa's LB coach from 2013-2015. I thought Iowa's LB's made dramatic improvement in 2013 when Jim Ried took over. Also Jim Ried seemed to be kind of a mentor for. Phil Parker, helping Parker introduce some innovative packages like the Raider defense which worked great in 2013.

It was really not a big surprise that Ried was offered another DC job back east, where he spent most of career.

Of course given Iowa's predictable offense and Ried's own knowledge of Iowa, Ried probably does not need a month to come up with a game plan to stop Iowa.

Ried took over a defense that was already very good under Don Brown. From what I see he is continuing to use Brown's defensive schemes. BC plays base 4-3, cover 3 and cover 1.

All-ACC DE Harold Landry is questionable for the game. (knee injury) He's one of the best speed rushers in college football. If healthy he would be a handful for Iowa's young OT.s.

They have two starting linebackers out SLB Connor Strachan & MLB Max Richardson.

Their bast CB Kamrin Moore is also out.

They have a good defense but they are pretty dinged up. That being said, they have a very aggressive pass rush that isn't going to give Stanley much time to work with. Given Iowa's offensive line troubles against aggressive rushing defenses I could see Iowa's offense having trouble getting anything going.

Gee thanks for the injury report. The last time we played a banged up defense we managed 66 total yards.

Sounds like a good game for the screen passes we completely forgot about.
