Bob Hansen to Sing Seventh Inning Stretch at Wrigley - Iowa Official Athletic Site

From article:

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Iowa Athletic Department, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, announced that former Hawkeye and NBA World Champion Bobby Hansen will sing the Seventh Inning Stretch on "Hawkeye Day with the Cubs" on Friday, Aug. 31. The Cubs will be hosting the San Francisco Giants at 1:20 p.m. (CT).

Hansen was a four-year letterman and a member of Iowa's 1980 Final Four team. The Des Moines native was named the Hawkeyes' team MVP his senior year in 1983. Hansen enjoyed a lengthy career in the NBA and earned an NBA championship while playing for the Chicago Bulls. Hansen played for the Utah Jazz (1983-90), Sacramento Kings (1990-91) and the Chicago Bulls (1991-92).

Hansen, who was named the Des Moines Register Iowa Sports Hall of Fame in 1999, is currently the color analyst for all Hawkeye men's basketball games on the Hawkeye Radio Network.

Tickets to the Cubs-Giants game are on sale at tickets.com.

Fun fact:
Our man Bobby of the Jazz was guarding Magic Johnson when he passed the ball to Kareem to score the points to break Wilt's all time scoring record.

You will see the footage every once in awhile.

Honestly, I was hoping that Fran would be in the booth with Bob and Len,so that he could get a national tv opportunity to sell Iowa bb. I know Bobby will do fine, but Fran is a great pitchman for the Iowa bb program.

I wonder if Bobby Hansen is still beloved in Chicago based on his time with teh Bulls? Dude hit a key rally-launching shot in a finals game that made him an instant legend in The Big Windy.

I think he is. A cult hero at the very least to any Bulls fan over the age of 30.

Apparently it was known that Chicago was the last stop on Hansen's NBA career. I read that during the finals celebration, Michael Jordan said "See Bobby, I told you I'd get you a ring".

Bobby gets credit for basically making the plays off the bench and hitting at least one 3 to win one of those final games.

One of my all time favorite hawks.

@ Hoffa: excellent.

@ Uwe: true stories.

I remember Bobby saying that Jordan was rooting for him more than anybody when he played in the finals. He had a lot of good things to say about Jordan.
