Bluder signs 1-year extension with Hawkeyes

One year extension...which expires in 2019...

Math sucks.

(yes, i realize it was extension to her current contract. Just a misleading title.)

How is that misleading? This title was written no differently than any other contract extension headline.

i enjoy watching them play. Ally Disterhoff really has some game.

Interesting fact: Theairra Taylor is the lone non-white player on the team and she is a senior. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are poised to swoop down and claim racism.;)

The headline requires additional knowledge in order to make sense. If you've got the knowledge, you're set.

If, like me, you don't have the knowledge that she's signed through 2018, the headline reads: "Lisa Bluder Has One More Year to Prove Herself Before We Fire Her."

...when it should read: "Great Job, Lisa. Here's Another Half Mill."

Minnesotan Chase Coley is one of four recruits to join the team next year.

^ this

When I first read the title I thought we were getting trolled. I had no idea she was signed through 2018 and this added 1 more year.

He probably just assumed everyone knew the details of her contract since everyone has been harping on KF's contract ever since he signed his extension

Thank you voice of reason - as for the rest of you, I'm sorry I don't know the details of every coach's contract. I'm just amazed at what people get away with as 'responsible' journalism today.

I think she is a great coach. It must be tough for her to be the head basketball coach at the University of Iowa and raise three children. I think her kids are probably teenagers now.

Because this headline was such a scandalous and embarrassing strike against journalism. *sarcasm*

You don't need knowledge of every detail to avoid being misled here. Hell, I didn't know she was signed through 2018, either. But I also don't see a headline saying she got a 1-year extension and think her contract must expire after this season.

Seriously, this is one of the most common things you'll ever see from any media outlet. You see it from ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Fox Sports, CBS, etc. If this is the first time you've ever seen a headline like this regarding a contract extension, then you've clearly spent little time reading about sports.

That's just a VERY small sample of the thousands of similar headlines. ALL MISLEADING. RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE.

Did you even read the article? That would tell you all the information you'd need to know.

I dont think her husband works. She is probably the main money earner. At least that was true a few years ago.
