Predicting the First Loss of 2010 for Each of College Football's Top 25

I know - it says Iowa will go undefeated, etc. I'm sure this will turn into a discussion about that. But I had a question regarding a comment on the tOSU slide. The contributor writes,

"Other than playing the smaller schools in Ohio, Ohio State schedules one great non-conference game per season ..... Ohio State has a tendency to lose these games, and luckily for the Buckeyes, the BCS has a short memory and has a tendency to forget about the early losses. Conversely, if the Buckeyes win the said non-conference blockbuster, the BCS remembers it and rewards Ohio State for its efforts."

Can we really call AZ a "great non-conference" game? Is our program at the point where we could theoretically schedule these types of games - the Miamis, USCs & Floridas of the world? Without looking at our past schedules and future schedules, I can't think of anyone immediately that really falls into this category. I think it's fairly accurate that the BCS doesn't remember the early losses against the big programs, but say Iowa loses to UNI last year, ouch. I'm not sure we get to the Orange Bowl.

I'm just curious, and seeking to hear others thoughts on our scheduling of non-conference opponents and whether we can start considering those early non-conference showdowns with big(ger) programs. If we win, it adds to our resume, if we don't, well it might sting for a week or two but if the conference games are taken care of, it might not have that much weight come bowl selection.
