being born not until 4 yrs after this, its really hard for me to get into these highlights from the 80s. basketball is so much different these days compared to back then. it just looks alot faster now.

i realize iowa has a good history in bball, but i only started following it around 2000 and thats what im used to.

Perhaps I am just getting to the point of being 'that old guy' at 40, but...

IMO, college basketball today is no where near as entertaining or as good as it was in the mid to late 1980's.

I'm 32 so this team was the first Hawk team I remember watching. Also watched a few football games in '85. Hard not to be a hawkeye when you turn on the tv to watch sports and the #1 team in the country is in your state. The glory days...

Moved to Iowa from a state that had no D1 school in late December of 86'. The first night here Iowa won the Holiday Bowl I believe. Not even a month later the Hawks were ranked #1 in b-ball. As a young, impressionable sports fan I thought I'd hit the lotto. I remember seeing the Hawks win the Great Alaska Shootout on ESPN prior to moving during this season. Brings back lots of memories.
