What's the purpose of those letters on the court @ Carver Hawkeye by the free throw lines? I've probably heard but they look silly to me. Do they mean something special?

Your prolly gonna get a lot of negative posts about being a dumb question for this one but that stands for the big ten conference and all big ten schools have it.

The G is supposed to serve a double purpose in the logo as the "G" obviously and the "0" in "10" subtly...that's why they went with the "1G" in a different color...and even knowing that, I think it looks silly as I don't much care for the logo.
