Big Ten Rankings Week 2. The Big Ten overall looked pretty decent against a lot of weak teams. This could have been a disaster week for the Conference and wasn’t. Top to bottom the Big Ten may be about as good as any conference or better. How good the top is might be the question. Teams 2,3,4,5 are about a toss-up at this point. 6,7,8, and 9 are also a toss-up are 10,11,12, 13, and 14. There may be no total patsies at the bottom.
1. OSU – Solid win that proves little. Team to beat until proven otherwise.
2. Wisconsin – Solid win that showed domination and no let down against weaker opponent.
3. Iowa – Solid win that still leaves questions especially since UNI lost at home. Need to get backup qb quality snaps.
4. Michigan – Blow out against maybe a really weak team. Show us you can grind it out.
5. Michigan State – Still question marks but we have to wait to see.
6. Nebraska – maybe a sort of quality win with a huge advantage at home.
7. MN – Can score against weak opponent. Can’t stop a weaker team that can score. If KF goes to play not to lose this game……
8. Maryland – An unknown with some speed. Maybe dangerous at home.
9. PSU – How does one analyze the Pitt game on the road? Sort of reminds me of Iowa in some (bad) years with more scoring and coming back rather than losing leads.
10. Indiana – An unknown with a little speed. Very little.
11. NW – Still unknown with maybe 2 losses that could have happened to about anyone….in one year.
12. Illinois – What was supposed to be a great defensive front got shredded in a run get, but were still in it late. Actually the experience QB let them down as well in hanging onto the ball.
13. Rutgers – Wow, at least for 1 game.
14. Purdue – Bad loss at home to maybe a down Cincy team.
