Big Ten special teams, at least we're not alone.

Our ills have been noted, but it's like an epidemic at this point. Ohio St. has given up 3 (maybe 4?) special team scores. Wisconsin was burnt yesterday, and almost burnt again. Minnesota was trading punches with USC and then got scorched. Probably others that I don't even know about. Two comments about this:

1. For a league that does the fundamentals well, what the heck is going on?

2. The teams that can clean this up (or better yet use special teams to their advantage) are going to have a major leg up in the conf. race. I think we need to be one of those teams.

Jon linked us to this kick-off coverage data: NCAA.com ? The Official Website of NCAA Championships - Football

Here are the lowlights for the Big Ten:

(out of 120)

116. Iowa
114. Wisconsin
109. Purdue
105. Minnesota
102. Ohio St.
100. Indiana

That is just God-awful out of the Big Ten.

Also, BTW, Penn St. is number 7, Michigan St. is 21, & Michigan is 23.

If any of these teams are are going to pull an upset against us, winning the hidden yardage on kick-offs is a good place for them to start. We need to get this stuff cleaned up pronto and hopefully have them snipe OSU and Wisky instead of us.
