Big Ohio State/Iowa games at Kinnick

The memories of huge Ohio State games at Kinnick linger in the mist of time. Ohio State always comes in with a great team and Iowa has had its share of classic, clutch victories. Here is a trip down memory lane:

1. 1952 - Evy's first team stuns #3 Ohio State at homecoming, 8-0!! This was one of the greatest upsets in Iowa football history.
2. 1956 - Woody Hayes and the Buckeyes come to Iowa City in November rated #1, with 17 straight Big Ten wins (sound familiar?). Alex Karras and the Hawks capture one of the most cherished Iowa wins ever, 6-0, and capture a Rose Bowl berth.
3. 1960 - in another November classic broadcast to a national TV audience, Larry Ferguson runs wild and Iowa cannonades Ohio State, 35-12, capturing a Big Ten title in the process. Woody Hayes comments that Evashevski is the "greatest offensive coach in the country." Iowa accumulates over 400 yards in total offense.
4. 1983 - Who can forget this classic? Iowa shocks the highly ranked Buckeyes 20-14, with Long to Moritz on a 70 yard pass late in the game leading the way (Moritz snakes into the end zone and Kinnick was never louder).
5. 2004 - Iowa's great defense and Drew Tate's best game of his career lead the way as Iowa clobbers the hated Bucks, 33-7, a pivotal game toward the Big Ten title. This was a total and complete annihilation of the vaunted Buckeyes and Jim "the vest" Tressel.

Great Iowa teams always play the buckeyes tough at Kinnick. I expect this year's team to play a great game this November.
