Big East implosion and ND

An interesting thought just occurred to me. If the Big East implodes, does Notre Dame have the guts to come crawling to the Big 10 for a home for it's other sports while wanting to remain a football independent? Does Delany even consider it? With ND hockey soon to no longer have a home with the formation of the B1G hockey league, it would make sense for them to want an arrangement like this. While I believe the Delanybot 9000 tells them to fully join or go burn, it is an interesting idea to dwell on.

Your thoughts?

Your thoughts?

At this point the Big East looks like it's going to become a non-football conference comprised primarily of private Catholic schools. I think a couple of those schools don't have track and/or baseball, but otherwise I think they field most of the Olympic sports, and it would still be a strong basketball conference. I think Notre Dame would be ecstatic if that were the outcome. To me, all of this makes it less likely that ND joins the Big 10.

I agree that this is highly unlikely, but the way things are wildly changing anything and everything is is play. Just thought that this was some interesting food for thought.

It's a footnote, but since hockey was brought up:

Two Big Ten schools are D1 in lacrosse, OSU and PSU, with Michigan coming iirc in 2013. If ND went to the Big Ten in all sports, I could see the Big Ten forming a 4-team conference in lacrosse as well.
