Since 2002, the Big 10 has appeared seven times, all losses.....

2002: Indiana lost to Maryland

2005: Illinois lost to N. Carolina

2007: Ohio St lost to Florida

2009: Michigan St lost to N. Carolina

2013; Michigan lost to Louisville (their win was vacated)

2015: Wisconsin lost to Duke

2018: Michigan lost to Villanova

Last Big 10 team to win the national title was MSU vs Florida in 2000. Outside of Kansas winning it all in 2008, the national champions have been east coast teams and two southeast teams with Kentucky & Louisville since 2001.

I believe Illinois was the only favorite in these games and everyone knew that N. Carolina team was really good. 7 out of 36 of the finalists since 2000 were B1G teams for 19%. That's not terrible if you want to look at it that way.

Don't tell bill Walton any of this. He still thinks the Pac 12 is the best conference in college basketball
Bill Walton probably thinks Jerry Garcia is still alive, too. The PAC 12 was oh for the tournament this year. And USC with all that talent and their "dunk city" coach couldn't even make the dance. Walton needs to stick to his cannabis and his high post offense and his John Wooden stories and leave the rest of us alone.
