Big 10 & beyond.....

Wow, watching this weeks addition of Big 10 basketball & beyond and I have learned that I was way off(according to Jim Jackson and Mike Decourcy) when I thought the Hawks were relevent & deserving of the national attention. The two previously mentioned reporters would only speek possitive of the Hawks if lead to do so by host Dave Revsine. Very frustrating to see these kids struggling for respect from some in the media, particularly those directly involved with the Big Ten conference. These young men are playing some of the best basketball in the country, you would think these two veteran basketball reporters would want to promote the depth of the conference they represent! Common Hawks go up too Ann Arbor and bring home a win! GO HAWKS!!

Ahhh. We care just iowa, not osu or meat chicken. They will wait to be hyped up on us until we get a 2 seed. Then they will act like they were on our jocks all year long. We get more love on the mothership than BTN.

Why would I be shocked that a former Buckeye didn't go out of his way to talk more about the Hawks. Once a Buckeye always a Buckeye.

We've got tons of national media attention the last few weeks, Seth Davis, Jay Bilas, Jon Rothstein and Dick Vitale, to name a few, all have been very high on this team, so it's hard for me to get worked up over media disrespect at this time.

You're absolutely right about that. But it does suck to not get much love from your own freaking network. Then again, if you're not OSU or Michigan (or MSU, by extension), then you're pretty much irrelevant in the eyes of the BTN.

Eh, Tim Doyle and Revsine were going on and on about us at halftime of the Wisconsin game, just keep winning and they'll be talking about us. Huge game Wednesday, chance to open even more eyes then.

No kidding, Dick was calling some game a few days ago, maybe the Louisville-UConn game, and he brought up the Hawks out of nowhere, saying Iowa is legit or for real or whatever he said. Greenberg has been loving on Iowa for weeks. Funny that the SEC/ACC Network has been singing praises so much for Iowa, yet the Big Ten Network still can't tell the difference between Woodbury and McCabe, or how to pronounce Gesell, and doesn't really care to figure it out.

BTN has been consistent in their no-love for the Hawks. In any sport ever. Always been an afterthought.

Some of you are way too insecure. I've heard Iowa getting praise on BTN quite often this year. The only thing I heard during BT and Beyond that I felt was ignorant was a comment that Iowa didn't have an elite defense. But even that comment was more a punctuation of Ohio State's offensive problems. And we do have room for improvement on the defensive side anyway.

There is no conspiracy against Iowa. Your time will be better served looking into the JFK assassination.

I think our defensive efficiency is in the Top 25, if I remember right. We're always going to give up more points than most others typically because we are the 3rd fastest team in Division I basketball from a "tempo" standpoint. But we hold our opponents to a pretty low average, shooting-wise, and we don't give up a lot of offensive rebounds. If we can continue to do that, we'll be pretty happy with the results more nights than not.

It's interesting because it all depends on the commentator. Morris, Doyle and Revsine of the Big Ten Network have been great. ESPN has been great.

I don't think DeCourcy really pays that much attention to the Big Ten.

Jackson just hates Iowa. Period. It's pretty simple with him. It's Ohio State and Wisconsin, all the time. The problem for him this season is Wisconsin and Ohio State might not be as good as he thought they were at the beginning of the year. I'm starting to think both of those teams have serious flaws that are starting to show up on Big Ten scouting reports.

The rest of the season is going to be fascinating.
