Best played game in the Lickliter Era

The guys had a football mentality tonight - fought really really tough.

Lickliter had his best game coaching. He correctly distributed minutes.

Team attacked the hole tonight, not settling for long 3's.

Defensive effort and rebounding was outstanding. Cole is unpolished, but he is fun to watch when he is getting after it.

If Iowa continues to follow this formula, I think we will win some more games. If they fall back into the slow it down offense - settle for outside shots, then they will not.

They did play tough but I think even the coach would tell you that twenty turnovers does not equal the best game played in his tenure here.
 
I'd say the best played game by Iowa under Lick would have to be the Iowa State game last year.

Today was pretty awesome though.

I'd go with the home victory against Michigan State a couple of years ago. It was ugly in the sense that it was a very low scoring defensive game and a bump-and-grind affair, but that's exactly what the Hawks had to have to win.

I think it was incredible coaching because Lickliter recognized we had to have more points than the other team in order to win. ;-)

Turnup must be my old high school basketball coach, because he use to garuantee us that if we scored more points than the other team we would win the game!!!! Most of the time he was right. He was a genius!!!:)

It's kind of like my golf saying: 100% of all putts that are left short will not go in!" Genius I know!!!
