point guard in the league this year? The choices:
Cully Payne,Iowa: bulldog tough, played in pain(no pun),more minutes than any frosh pg...shooting form better than %, good passer and ballhandler, free throws not great and struggles defending on the ball..
DJ Richardson,Ill: played off guard with McCamey at point, but did play point early and is a pg..very good shooter from distance and defender, pretty long and quick..cool under pressure.
Kelsey Barlow,PU: Started a number of Big Ten games at pg when Lewjack was out..a big bully of a pg, probably end up at the shooting guard, not a great outside shooter, but good off the dribble and strong defender.
Justin Cobbs: Minny sub behind Al Nolen and Devoe Joseph, but really looks the part, quick, strong defender and ball handler, shooting undetermined.
Darius Morris,Mich: tall pg who has started a lot of games, ok at everything, not great at anything,yet...but has body to excell down the road.
Jordan Hulls,IU: Second best shooter behind Richardson, but lacks great size or quicks...solid but not great defender.
Tim Frazier,PSU: Quickest of the bunch, very fast with ball, good passer, and can go to the hoop and finish, especially in transition...gonna be pretty good.
This is a pretty good group of frosh pgs...only wisky,MSU,OSU and NW did not bring in a pg this year..but they will all bring one in next year,I believe.
This league is not gonna drop off soon because guards rule the roost in college bb and when you add a good group of soph guards like Joseph,Babb,Luscious,Taylor,JonesIII,and frosh like Brandon Paul and Joe Bertrand...this league is gonna stay tough.
