before the season, do you remember your predictions?

I do, 20 wins overall and 9-9 in the big 10 for the regular season. Give me a contract to sign before the season started and I'd have thought it was a pretty decent deal and gladly signed on the dotted line. The close losses sucked major arse, were hella deflating to morale and p***ed fans off to no end but in the end I guess I got the record I wanted, however I thought it would be good enough for an NCAA bid. We'll see on sunday but I'm not going to hold by breath.

btw, the NIT still sucks

Hopefully Jon will bump that prediction thread again.

IIRC the Hawks have outperformed my preseason prediction by one or two conference wins and I believe I had them going 2-1 in the NIT.

I thought Iowa would go 11-2 in the non-con with losses to DePaul (Iowa played WSU instead) and VT. I thought Iowa would go 11-7 in conference with losses to Indiana (2x), MSU, OSU, Michigan, at Wisconsin, and at Purdue. I thought Iowa would go 1-1 in the BTT to finish at 23-10 and earn a 7-seed.

I thought Minnesota would be worse than they were early in the year; I thought DePaul and Purdue would be better than they've been; and I thought 23-10 would earn a higher seed than it would have. With the way things have gone, had Iowa had that 23-10 record, they would probably be about a 10-seed.

Was pretty close...

Re: On the Record: Post your Iowa Basketball season predictions here
9-4 NC
8-10 Conf
1-1 B10 tourney
2-1 NIT

Never made a prediction - at least here - but wanted a .500 finish or better in the league, and top 6 in the standings. Wherever that landed, I was going to be happy with it.

how drunk on black and gold kool aid were you when you made this prediction?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I follow Iowa basketball 1st and Iowa football a distant 2nd. I also know a thing or 2 about basketball. They went 11-2 non conference and they lost the 2 games I thought they would lose.

Marble got hurt which cost us the Michigan State game and at least 1 game during that stretch before he was right again. I thought our only home loss all season would be to Indiana. The other 2 (besides Michigan State) I had wrong were at Purdue and at Nebraska...certainly were in both of those games.

Save this for next year. I predict we go undefeated at home and I don't need to see the schedule and I don't care who we play. I don't think we will lose a home game. If Oladipo, Zeller, Burke and Thomas go pro I think we will finish 2nd in the conference behind Michigan State. They only lose Nix...dirty player that I won't miss. I reserve the right to adjust my order of finish if any of these 4 players return but definitely won't have us lower than 4th. My blind guess on our conference record is 14-4 without seeing the schedule.
