However, the Lady Hawkeyes are really on a roll, winning 8 of 9 and clearly possessing a chance to make the NCAA tourney.

Found it interesting that in the Women's bracketology, on ESPN, they have Michigan women in the tournament. This, despite the Fact that the Iowa women have a better record and are ahead of michigan in the Big Ten standings. Lisa Bluder is certainly the front runner, once again, for Big Ten Coach of the Year.

Can they really make the tournament? Aren't they 15-11? While winning 8 out 9 is impressive, I doubt it impresses the committee that much since Big 10 womens basketball is so weak this year. I think they need to win out and then win 2 games in the tourney. That would put them at 20-12 and give them a chance

The ESPN bracket has Michigan in the tournament now. Iowa is ahead of them in the Big Ten standings, with a better overall record.

How you're playing at the end of the season figures more strongly than the beginning (in other words the Clone women are lucky they played them early) and this may be the factor that the committee uses to give the nod to the Hawkeye ladies. (Their one defeat in 8 of 9 was a 4 pt loss at Ohio St.........a game they lead most of the way).

Wow I wasn't taking a shot at Iowa, just asking a question about the ladies, but do you really think ISU was lucky to play them early? Iowa State would still kill Iowa right now. ISU is playing like a top 10 team and probably would have won at #2 Nebraska if Lacey (best player) didn't have to miss the game with a concussion.

Iowa State has won at #14 Texas, beaten #19 Baylor, and #11 Oklahoma in the last couple weeks.

Iowa, according to the recent polls, hasn't beaten a ranked team.

Big 12 is the best conference in the country. Most people rank the Big 10 5th or 6th in the country.

I hope Iowa girls make the tourney. The more Iowa teams in the dance the better. I don't like Bluder, never have. When I lived in IC I heard her talk a lot and didn't care for her demeanor, but I went to many girls games and hope they do well. I had written them off as having a chance to go to the dance, but am glad they are playing so well and working their way back into consideration

The women's tourney always seems to get more of those "17-12" major conference teams in...in that regard they're worse than the men's committee when it comes to giving smaller schools a nod. I'd be shocked if Iowa made it this year, but I'm pretty stoked for next season already with the experience this team's gotten and the vast improvement they've shown after losing starters left and right to injuries.

Edit: I too think ISU would beat Iowa again...it's not like Iowa's the only team in this state that's gotten better as the season's gone on.

Lisa Bluder is clearly a heckuva coach.

Perhaps not the recruiter that Fennely seems to be, yet Lisa is proving again that she knows the game and can motivate players.

She will be the Big Ten Coach of the Year, again, most likely.
