No, I'm completely serious about Marble. Even Fran said in one of the recent post game interviews on the radio that Marble has a very high basketball IQ.

From the basketball intelligence perspective, who appears to be our intellectual leader on this year's team?

I think this is part of our problem - we really don't have one. A leader:
+Makes his teammates better, especially at the times when they need to be;
+Takes charge at crunch-time. That doesn't mean he does all the shooting. It means he knows where the ball has to go, when and how, and makes sure that happens;
+Is THE one guy in the huddle that everybody else listens to during the time-outs. Last year, that was Eric May;
+Comes through when and how he has to. That means he may be only a 50+% FT shooter the rest of the time, but you KNOW he is going to make the clutch free-throw with the game on the line (two ex-Hawks by the name of Steve Waite and Russ Millard were perfect examples);
+While this is optional, often has a personality off the court that is so gentle and so self-deprecating that he seems anything but. That is, until the referee throws the ball into the air for the opening center jump;

The closest we have is Aaron White. But he is SO deferential to the other players on his team that, during crunch-time, he often ends up never even having the ball in his hands, a major, major mistake. I suspect he will inherit that role as a Senior, though (IMHO), he needs to be given that responsibility now - by all his teammates and his coaches.

I think you're selling Marble short. He's got a very high basketball IQ. Probably higher than his skill set can allow.

Do you know how much of a racist stereotype this post is? Just come out and say it. All of the black guys are dumb athletes and the white guys are hard working and intelligent. ...oh brother.
