Barring a huge week...

We start to look more like the bracketology folks are right. We probably slipped to a 6 seed maybe further. Now have the run of 4 games in 8 days...even potential of losing a first round bye at the conference tournament.

This is what worries me. Slipping back to middle of the pack.

7 losses now with quite a few games and a BTT left... Could have 10 losses by selection Sunday. That's 7-8 seed territory, folks. Last place I want to see this team end up. Coulda been a special regular season, but all the close losses are starting to squash that hope.

Ahh....shizzz we might as well just accept an invite to the NIT then. I mean who wants a 6 seed when we haven't been to the tournament in years??? A 6 seed, how disgusting. Fire Fran! Good God people!

Should be a lot better than a 6 seed in all honesty. Last year was what could have been.. This year really is no different. Just gets old watching Iowa throw away close games one after another.

A 6 seed and we're probably a sweet 16 team at least.

This team has one seed potential but can't close games. Sad face.

I don't disagree with the close loss statement, but a 6 seed would be better than what all of us expected before the season started. Yes, probably should be higher. We'll have to see how it shakes out. I hate Wisky and am ****** we lost, but both teams played well and for some reason I am not stressed out by it???

I'd take a 6 seed if offered right now. I just don't think that's a guarantee yet, either. Can't afford to lose much in these remaining games with so many opportunities for losses that would be considered bad, and our RPI not one of our bigger assets.

If Iowa finishes in the conference 4-1 or 3-2, they will have a lock on a 5 seed, regardless of what they do in the BTT.
2-3 would probably drop them to the 6 line.

And that's just stupid.

Why is that stupid? Suppose they only beat Purdue the rest of the season, and lose the first Big 10 tourney game? That is not outside the realm of possibility.

Not saying it will happen...but it could. Will the team fold, or get "mad" and play with attitude? We'll find out this week.

This team has every chance to get mad, and yet they fold down the stretch....I'm not sure what goes through Fran's mind, but I'm scratching mine every time we are in a game like this....I seriously think Iowa only wins two more games before the BTT....too much inconsistency regarding players & regarding Fran in crunch time...

The NCAA tourney is far from a given right now.

I wouldn't think this is the case BUT....

The powers that be are not looking kindly at Iowa right now. We have lost most of our big games to date (exceptions, UM and OSU road). Perception says the Hawks are gonna take a hit for all that. Just cannot lose time and time again, to close teams, at the wire.

We had better finish at least 10-8 at the end, or here we go again....

Breaks my heart....just does.

I'm just happy we can finally put to rest all of this BIG title non sense...this was never a Big Ten championship caliber team...they might be able to make a little run to the sweet 16 or something if they get a favorable seed...but I would say given their history with closing out close games...that is far from a given.

Love the Hawks but this has got to be one of the most unclutch teams in recent NCAA history. You just know what's going to happen when we get in these close games with good teams. Just need someone to hit a big one against a good team to get the monkey off their backs. There's still some opportunities out there.

Amazing that we've lost 7 games now and not one has been more than 8 points.

I'm with you man. I am so happy that we finally lost enough games that we can't win the championship. That would have sucked to keep winning.

Seriously though the one good thing about this is we would probably be better off with a 6 seed than a 4 or 5 anyway.

I just think Iowa fans got too carried away with expectations...and it leads to problems...such as the McCabe twitter issue. Just take the games for what they are...I remember some of the crazies on this board saying things like "Even if we play bad...we are good enough to take MSU's best punch and still win comfortably." before the MSU game. Iowa fans got a little taste of success and suddenly we are a college basketball elite and if we lose it's the refs fault.

Yea but thank god we lost. Fans were ridiculous to think we could win the conference when we were a game back.
