Barbee should be top pick

The more I learn about UTEP’s Tony Barbee, the more attractive he looks.
More than anything else, Iowa needs a big-time recruiter. To compete in the Big 10, you need athletes. One thing Iowa has not had in a long time is a recruiting pipeline in Chicago and other inner-cities. As the premier recruiting coach for John [FONT=&quot]Calipari[/FONT]at Memphis, Barbee apparently landed four top 10 classes, and I think he would provide an immediate boost in that arena here.
Let’s face it, this season seven of the 11 players on Iowa’s roster were white. Come on. Iowa needs Jamal Tinsley and Marcus Fizer- esque athletes. Barbee seems to draw big names wherever he goes, and Iowa would certainly have more pull than Texas El-Paso.
The way I see it, Iowa can make a move for this rising star now or watch him launch another program to national power.

I would agree. Barta should make this guy his top target. He is likely the best recruiter we can find and that is exactly what we need. He simply blows away the other names mentioned today, Marshall, Gregory, and maybe even Hewitt.

I like the idea of Barbee as Iowa's next coach better than Gregg Marshall.
