ball screens vs. northestern

am i accurate in thinking we did a lot less screening on the ball last night?

the first five minutes or so (which was about the best stretch of basketball they've played this year), it was all high screens on the ball, even though northwestern came out in the zone. for the rest of the game we didn't screen much at all, even when they switched to man-to-man... at least that's the way it seemed to me. anyone else notice this? were we screening off the ball instead?

They came out in a switching man-to-man, then switched to the 1-3-1 zone, which basically neutralized the ball screens out front. Later they switched back to man.

Re: ball screens vs. northwestern

right. it just seems like even when they switched to man defense we didn't ball screen as much as normal. but i could be way off... just my general impression.

Cougill seems to screen more than anyone else, which makes sense because of his ability to step out and pop the 3. Since Cougill hardly played, we didn't do as much screening. I also think we tried to work the ball inside more in the first half than we normally do, and that set up our 3 pretty well.
