B1G is becoming...

Just shows that no team in this conference is as good or bad as they seem to be.

And anyone can lose on the road at any time to anyone.

Well, except Rutgers, they continue to be a black eye on the conference in general.

But, except for them, yeah.

We can now win outright with 1 loss as long as Maryland loses at Purdue and Indiana loses to Maryland.

Crazy year is right. As Niemo pointed out in another thread, MSU is simultaneously ranked 8th in the country and in 8th place in the B1G. Can't make this stuff up...

I remember arguing a couple of weeks ago with someone that thought 4 loss teams were out of the race as well. I guess I made a mistake ruling out the 5 loss teams.

There's only 5 five loss teams...and none of them play each other this weekend. If Michigan were to win at Maryland (not likely) and Purdue wins their home game against Indiana (likely) there will be 6 Big 10 teams with 5 losses on Monday. Iowa would have 3 losses. Indiana would have 4 losses. And there would be 6 teams tied for 3rd (through 8th)...in the loss column.

Just for the heck of it I clicked submit on the Big 10 Bracket Predictor making no changes other than Michigan winning at Maryland. I have no idea who is going to win what games the rest of the year. But this is the projection...with the goofy scenario above. I would love to see Maryland lose their Big 10 Tournament bye.

Iowa 15-3
Indiana 14-4
Michigan State 13-5
Purdue 12-6
Wisconsin 11-7
Michigan 11-7
Maryland 11-7
Ohio State 9-9
Northwestern 8-10

Well that looks nothing like I thought it would. Other than the top team of course.

As of 2/20/16 there are 8 teams with 5 or fewer losses. Iowa has four games left against teams with five or fewer losses. Michigan State has two game left against the top eight and they are both with OSU. The remainder have three each against the top 8. Wisconsin has five games to play and everyone else has four.

I expect Wisconsin will beat Illinois on their court Sunday night and come to IC with a 9-5 record on Wednesday. They play MI, @MN, @PU after the IA game. Odds are there are two losses among the last four. 11-7

Purdue plays @IU today. IU is 11-3 and PU is 9-5. They have a road game @NE and home games with MD and WI. Odds seem to be they lose two more. 11-7

OSU is @NE today. Followed by MSU, IA, @MSU. I see three losses. 10-8.

MSU has the easiest remaining schedule. They win out. 13-5

Michigan plays @MD on Sunday. They have a game against NW followed by @WI and IA to close. I see at least two losses. 11-7 at best.

Maryland has MI, @PU, IL, @IU. Looks like two losses. 12-6.

Indiana has PU at home, @IL, @IA, MD at home. I see only one loss. 14-4

That leaves Iowa. They win out they are regular season champions, go 3 and 1 and tie Indiana, go 2 and 2 tie MSU for second, go 1 -3 tie with Maryland for third. Don't want to consider 0 and 4.

Going 0 & 4 is not an option. If so, that would mean the fan base would choose suicide by cop (and there are a few that might consider that)

Seriously tho, I would not be surprised if Penn State loses at Rutgers today. They all had the big celebration Wednesday and today will probably come out and shoot 2-23 from three point range, 55% from the free throw line, get out rebounded by 10, and Donovan Jack, Jack Donovan, Jack Daniels or what ever his name is has 1 point, 1 rebound, and fouls out 3 minutes into the second half.

Oh I'm sure Penn State will regress into it's former self. The way they played against Iowa was over the top, especially all those 3 pointers in the first half.

They are dominating Rutgers right now, but that doesn't tell you much. Good jr. high girls team would give Rutgers a run for their money.
