Regarding Bob Knight and the chair, he talked about that years later. Apparently it also was intentional. When asked about the incident, here was his response (paraphrased, as best I can remember it from an interview on ESPN): "The arena is sold out - not even a place to stand. And yet, do you recall anyone getting hit or hurt by that chair?"
I was watching that day, and what I saw was a man who had lost control of his team. It was right after he had coached our national team in the Olympics. That season, teams like Iowa and several others were sweeping Indiana as the Hoosiers were heading for a losing record in the B1G. In my world, he was worn out. And yet, he won another national championship after that.
But yes, that was over the edge. And the Spock thing is indeed hilarious.
