If we sweep our next 3 and win 1 in the Big 10 tourney, I think the committee will have a real issue on their hands. Normally when people yell and scream about bad RPI teams making it into the tourney, they talk about how said team has no or few quality wins. That won't be the case with us.
It's really a tale of two seasons with this team. At the beginning of the year, the team was still searching for an identity, figuring out Fran and his system, and figuring out their roles. But once we entered Big 10 play, this team is rolling. Everyone knows their role. Gatens has found his stroke, Marble has figured out how to be a true point guard, White has discovered his role as a freshman, Mel has figured out that we don't need him to go for 15 and 10 every night, and the rest of the team has figured out their role and have accepted that role.
I remember in the movie "Hoosiers", there was one part where Gene Hackman was talking about having Jimmy on the team and how they were firing on all pistons and they were going to be a tough team to beat down the stretch. That's how I feel about this Iowa team. We're now firing on all pistons and I think we're going to be a tough team to beat over the next couple weeks.
