Avoiding Iowa score in Nebraska

I have to go with the wife to the Nebraska -Texas game, which is at the same time as Iowa-Michigan. Terrible timing. If anyone has recently been to memorial stadium, can you please tell me whether I'll be able to avoid learning of the Iowa score during the Nebbie game as I'd like to dvr without knowing the score.

Any other general thoughts on dealing with this situation would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Are you planning on rocking the Black and Gold while you are there? If so, then you are guaranteed that someone around you will be following the score on their smartphone and probably blow it for you.

I will likely be wearing red:(

Does she have your man parts in her purse too? Or are they on in a jar on the counter so you can get them back anytime you want? ;)

Seriously though, there is no way you don't find out. Even if you turn your phone off you will surely be updated by the out of town scoreboard and people around you talking about it. Many Nebraska fans obsess over Iowa, even though they won't admit it.

Good luck. And go texas!

Ugh, that sucks.:( However, that should keep you safe from the cell phone junkies. Beyond that, I would just avoid eye contact with any videoboard that has scores posted on it, and you should be just fine...other than having to wear red.;)

Go get yourself an Iphone and watch the game streaming on the big 10 network.com. It might be laggy at times as I'm sure the cell bandwidth is tested in Lincoln on game days but youd be able to watch most of it.

Yeah yeah. I deserve the jokes.... She went with me to the psu game and I was really hoping the nebbie game would be at night.

Good idea duffman, but the game is on abc. Anybody know anything about mobiltv or have any other ideas on how to watch the game? I'm not above sitting in memorial stadium and watching the Iowa game on a three inch tv.

Is it just the 2 of you or are you going with a group? If going with a group I would wake up about 2 or 3 hours before you go and make yourself puke and tell her you are sick and don't think you will be able to go, but she could still go and have fun with everyone.

Being an iPhone user, and getting the poor ATT service I do in Kinnick, I doubt you'd be able to stream it successfully. I cannot even get text messages during the game. I get 25-30 when I get back to the tailgate.

It doesn't matter what provider you have. I had a heck of a time getting out texts Saturday night. Cell traffic was redonkulous.

Yeah, it wasn't just Saturday night. It has been every year and just about every game forever. Kind of frustrating. Understandable though since 70,000+ are using the same tower. You'd think they could put some more towers in the area because of this. Not a huge deal though.

Yeah, it's mildly frustrating...but not enough to keep me from enjoying myself.:D Someday they'll plant an extra tower around there.

I've got Verizon and my Droid does not get any internet or send any texts while I'm in Kinnick. I can receive texts though. I'm rarely able to make or receive calls too. They really need to get an extra portable tower or something during the games, because it is impossible to find your friends once everyone is there. My point is, I'm guessing you won't be able to stream the game on your phone when you're in Memorial Stadium :)
