Anyone hear any updates on if he’s still considering juggling wrestling and football for the Hawks? I’m guessing he’d be a very welcome addition to the team, especially with Telford as the only blue chip heavyweight on the roster next season. Heavyweight would be secured for years to come with those two and walk-on Heiderscheit for added depth. I’m guessing he wouldn’t demand much/any money since he’s already on scholarship with the football team. It seems to be an ideal situation having one of the best heavyweights in the country in the room with little to no money tied up to have him there. It would also provide Telford a top notch workout partner and if the football coaches signed off, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Blythe take the spot.

Sign them both up! I would highly doubt Morris would jeopardize his potential in football though by cutting weight in the football off-season to make 197 when he could be working with Doyle filling out his frame to become one of the best linebackers in the country.

It was announced when he signed with Iowa for football that his wrestling days were over. Things can change but this isn't one I would waste a lot of energy on.

You’re probably right but we can always hope I guess. In the clip from a hawkcentral article from Andy Hamilton on August 27th, 2010 he mentions the possibility but never really confirms it either way.

“Between the two sports, I’m still kind of torn about it,†Blythe said. “I’ll let the chips fall where they may. If it happens to work out (to compete in both), I’ll give it a shot, but right now I’m planning on just doing football. I’ve been doing both of those sports since I was a little kid. It will be hard to say goodbye to wrestling, but you never know. It could work out in the future to where I can end up doing it again, so we’ll see.â€

I did ask Austin this past August if he was still considering wrestling for Iowa and he said he wasn’t going to say too much about it because he hadn’t talked to all of the people he wanted to yet but he had thought about it.
