Assistant football coach position open at Iowa

Let me guess Ron Aiken had a taste of the good life and doesn't want to come back.

You can't tell me this is the bi-product of a thought full approach by the Sports Information Department. Seems to me that the SID should be walking hand in hand with Ferentz. it just seems awkward.

Reporter- So Kirk is there going to be any changes with the current staff?

Kirkster- If there is I dont know about it.

Reporter- Is it true that a recruit tweeted that a coach has left the team?

Kirkster- I dont know I really dont pay attention to that kinda thing.

Reporter- Is Greg Davis returning this year as OC?

Kirkster- You would know more than I would...snort...Really I dont know anything about that.

Reporter- Do you realize that coaches are quitting because of how poorly you run this football program?

Kirkster- <fart noise> snort <dumb look>snort.....Did you get a good whiff of that?

I understand that this is how its always been inside Fort Kinnick. But I really don't understand why they do it this way. It makes them look worse than if they would just come out and say "Yes, xxxxx has left the program, we wish xxxxx the best in the future. We look forward to finding someone who is willing to do the job and help grow the program." How hard would that be? It's seems like no one really knows what's going on with each other. Is there that much disconnect between staff?

Coaches arnt leaving the program on their own. I am sure KF would rather anounce a coache is leaving for another job and thank them, but it seems the coach is having trouble landing a new position and they are running out of time. They have to go threw this process and I would imagine they want to get their new guy on board pretty quick

So you think Kirk is firing coaches just before signing day? I mean I would put it past him but I dont think thats it. I think these coaches are leaving while they can still find jobs. They know what Kirk is turning Iowa football into.

LASBUR and OoTH,

Unless one of you has insider info, I think you both have a good point. However, I don't think we will never know for sure but I know that you are both so far on opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to KF that neither one of you will want to believe that you could be wrong.

I am not a huge KF fan anymore, but I am with LASBUR, I believe KF has asked them to find another form of employment. Just my opinion.

Like I said I think KF would much rather the guy had been able to land a job like coach K did. Thank him in public and send him on his way. This is a change that had to be made in my opinion. Thank you for your opinion.

I agree. I think they left. However Kirk could have fired them. He is known for doing dumb things at the wrong time. He is also known for not being able to manage time on and off the field.

Dave Im pretty sure this was done the day after the Neb. game

do you care to elaborate on those two things? If your first comment is in reference to his in-game coaching that is obvious but that doesn't relate to his decisions regarding his staff.
