As a Lick supporter...

I think next season they must make the NIT or it's time to cut the ties. I like Lick and and am hopeful the incoming class will provide much needed depth, but I understand Iowa hoops is at a place a lot of us have never seen. The fanbase is divided, Carver is empty, and there are games where Iowa just doesn't show up. I loved the hire of Lick, and still think he deserves another year, but time is running out for better or worse. I have defended him all year but next season big.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. I'm just really curious. What about Lick the coach makes you really like him and want to support him?

Do you honestly -- HONESTLY -- think we're even capable of making the NIT next year?

I don't.

I don't think we need to waste another year to make the change we all know needs to be made.

Tweeter-

That is how I feel, why wait until next year? By doing so, we are only delaying the inevitable and pushing the program back another year.

Go Hawks!

What is it that has you thinking next season is an NIT bound season?

I understand we have a solid recruiting class coming in, but I'm not sure how much they will contribute. Gatens, Fuller, May, & Payne are still our starters. I don't see anyone new taking their place. We lose Cole, and I'm not sure Brommer, Cougill, or Archie can completely fill his shoes.

Sure our guys have another year of experience, but so does most of the other Big 10 teams.

I'm not saying I object to Lickliter getting another year, I'm just not sure what's "reasonable" to exepct from next year.

How bad is it going to have to get for you to decide a change needs to be made?

Let him have next year with a full roster. Let the practice facility be built. Let the players get another year of experience. Let another year go by so the buyout is less.

Next year is going to be awful no matter who is the coach. Let Lick have another year.

Your logic to keep him another year makes no sense at all if "next year is going to be awful no matter who is the coach." If you think now that next year is going to be awful, why would you wait to make a change? With the practice facility in the process of being built, that, imo, would be a great recruiting tool for a new coach right now. Plus, why would you want the young players to stay in Todd's system if they're going to be learning a new system in 2011. Because if we are going to be awful next year like you say, then lick is for sure gone after next season.

Lick is responsible for there not being a full roster. There is nobody else to blame.

It won't be until the 2011-2012 season that he will be able to use the practice facility. Do you really think Lick should get that much time?
