Purdue held off Iona at the San Juan Classic, winning 93-92. Entertaining game. Hummel hit a 3pter with 15 seconds left to put them up. Ryne Smith hit 5 of 6 from th arc, after hitting 8 from the arc last game.
Purdue looked better today than vs High Point. Hummel is knocking the rust off, and they have new guy in the middle (Austin?) who looked pretty good. I think they will battle for 5th or 6th in the league, and probably squeeze into the tourny.

NW vs LSU....currently going on in a tourny in South Carolina. LSU ran off to a 12 point halftime lead, with only Shurna keeping them viable.
Second half, NW comes back with a vengance, goes up 12, and now it is a 5 point NW lead with 4 minutes to go. Shurna on fire with 33 pts.
Shurna will be all-league this year, and probably lead the league in scoring.
NW is going to be as good or better than last year. Some solid play from frosh pg Sobolewski and walkon starter Reggie Hearn. Cobb,Crawford,Mirkovic,Markotullio give them a solid 7 man rotation. I do not see the Hawks beating them in Evanston, and maybe not in Carver.

Lot of good games today, with N.Il at Iowa,Illinois and others in action.

I was hoping that the Big Ten might be down a bit this year, but so far it seems as though there are going to be a LOT of teams battling for the middle spots. I only hope we are one of them.

Well Purdue certainly seems beatable, although I'm sure they will be much improved by the time the Big Ten season rolls around.

I think Iowa could finish ahead of Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota, Northwestern, Penn State and Indiana if things go our way this year (it'd be a stretch to finish ahead of all those teams but I wouldn't be shocked either). None of those teams are impressive really. Michigan State, Purdue and Wisconsin aren't mind blowingly impressive either and I think we could beat all of them though I don't think we'd finish with a better record.

before getting all gushy about NW, LSU also lost to Coastal Carolina, i expect a home and home split with NW, LSU finished at 11-21 last season, not exactly a power team that NW beat
