Arnold Back Good or Bad?

Bad.

1. Huge distraction on a team that doesn’t need distractions.

2. No natural starting spot for him.

3. He ain’t that great.

It’s a bad sign that Iowa’s is basically forced to take a very mid-tier guy back who has violated team conduct expectations just because of depth. The mighty have certainly fallen, but admittedly it isn’t 100% their fault. Different world now.

In Gable’s time if a guy acted like Arnold there would’ve been a whole bunch of guys able and hungry to take his spot.

Its like we get good wrestlers, that have no moral respect. How about Iowa football and waving at the kids. How about womens basketball when one of the greats come back (Megan) for their coach. Because she is getting married? High Class if you ask me.

To be honest, wrestling as a sport attracts cocky people who want to kick other people’s asses one on one. At the elite college level you don’t get softies. You have to be a driven person who is ok with a lot of physical and mental pain and you have to like inflicting pain on other people. It’s a whole different personality than a basketball or even football player. Along with that, the proportion of assholish dickheads is way higher. Not just at Iowa. It is what it is. You ever met the Brands brothers in person? They’re dead serious, 100% intensity, 100% of the time. Literally everything is a one on one competition, even the smallest little things.
